I am a mixed media fibre artist. My technique involves combining needle felting sheep’s wool and silk fibres with batik on silk. Some of my previous works are a combination of needle felting and oil painting. I am inspired by Art Nouveau and I am attracted to the etherial quality of silk and the soft tactile feel of wool. My art expresses the inner empowerment of womanhood and the feminine spirit.

Some of my batik works which have been done on cotton have shiny silk rovings blended with the wool and needle felted to add shimmer.

I am still developing my portfolio of batiks and will be posting them on here as they are completed.

My organic, abstract forms are intended to express spirit, emotion, passion, and love. When the pearl is represented in my works, it is intended to express the resiliency of one's spirit and healing strength. Silk and wool are both organic, versatile, and soft materials lending themselves to the notion of woman and one's inner being.

Needle felting is done by using a special barbed needle that when used to agitate the fibres of wool, transforms it into a felted form. A wet method can also be used to create a similar effect by using warm soapy water and agitating the wool by hand. My wool pieces were created with the dry needle felting method.
